SATURDAY 11TH MAY 2024

CARGO BIKE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The cargo bike championship is a fun-filled family event. There will be a large array of cargo bikes on the show participating in various mini fun races.

The objective is to showcase their capabilities and manoeuvrability to the public while having a ton of fun in the process!

There will be prizes to win on the day, this will be a family-friendly event.

DUBLIN CYCLING CAMPAIGN FAMILY CYCLE 

The Dublin Cycling Campaign are hosting a Family Friendly Cycle.

The cycle will start from Blackrock Dart Station, joining Seapoint Avenue and finishing at the Ferry terminal in Dún Laoghaire harbour.

This event is in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council who will kindly provide free ice cream to participants.

CYCLING TRAINING WORKSHOPS

10.30am - 11.30am – Women-only cycling
Bring your bike and get input on skills for safety and getting around on your bike.


11.30am - 12.30pm – Children’s Learn to Cycle
Come along and see the stages of learning to cycle independently – get tips and find out where to access resources, you may even see a child cycle for the first time. Suitable for 4 years and upwards.


13.00pm - 14.00pm – Children’s Skills
Bring a child to this session to take part in fun skills that will help them better handle their bikes.


14.00pm - 15.00pm – Parent and child session
Come along with your bike and child, learn skills for cycling with a child, where to position, how to support a child in becoming a confident cyclist and practice safe cycling on the road.

DUBLIN MOUNTAINS ACTIVE FAMILY NIGHT AT THE GAP

CYCLING WITHOUT AGE: INCLUSIVE CYCLING DEMONSTRATION
Come along and experience this free service. Trained staff will be on hand to allow participants to try trishaws, tandems, trikes, wheelchair bikes, hand cycles and more.

Drop in, no booking is required.

COASTAL MOBILITY ROUTE HERITAGE CYCLE TOUR 

An easy heritage cycle hosted by the dlr Heritage Officer, Deirdre Black along the coastal mobility route.


Discover the origin stories of this part of Dublin; King Laoghaire’s fort, 18th-century coffee shops, shipwrecks, the first trains and the eternal appeal of fresh sea air!


End the trip with an optional free tour of the Joyce Tower Museum at Sandycove.


Max: 15 attendees

Location: Salthill to Sandycove. Assemble at Longford Gardens on the Coastal Mobility Route (the seating area beside Salthill and Monkstown Dart station) and finish at the Joyce Tower in Sandycove.

Free Lunchtime Bike Safety Checks at “Hub 17” Sandyford


“The Bike Hub is popping up all over Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County for Bike Week! Mechanics will be available for free safety checks on your bike and let you know if you’re ready to cycle into summer”.


The Bike safety check is an inspection of a bicycle to ensure it is in good working condition and safe for riding. During a safety check, a technician will inspect various bike parts such as the brakes, tyres, wheels, pedals, chain, gears, and handlebars, among others.

Cycle Programme for older adults aged 55+ Beginner / Novice Cyclists – Programme Launch.

The free 6-week Programme will run from Wednesday the 15th of May until Wednesday, June 19th.

The Bike Hub, Age & Opportunity and Dlr Sports Partnership developed and supported the programme.

Please note participants will be required to bring their bicycles.

An easy heritage cycle hosted by the Dlr Heritage Officer, Deirdre Black along the Slang Greenway from Dundrum to Marlay Park. Enjoy new viewpoints on this part of Dublin; the creative innovation of Dun Emer Industries, Slang River nature, local cycling champions, views to mountain top monuments and historic Marlay Park.

Assemble at the Ardglass entrance to the Slang Greenway and finish at Marlay Park.
