The National Emergency Coordination Group (NECG) for severe weather met today to cordinate the response to the ongoing weather situation.  Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Crisis Management Team met at 14:30hrs to discuss the evolving weather situation. Due to exceptionally adverse weather conditions, and the warnings issued by the NECG, the offices of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, all branch libraries and all public buildings, will be closed from 15:30hrs today until Monday, 5 March. On Thursday and Friday, should you need to contact the Council in the event of an emergency, you can contact us on 01 2054700 between the hours of 09:00hrs and 17:00hrs and outside of these hours, please contact our emergency number on 01 6778844. Our roads and gritting crews will continue to operate to keep essential services running.

Blizzard like conditions will develop on Thursday through Thursday night and into Friday morning in the Leinster and Munster regions. A Red Level warning is currently in place and will continue until noon on Friday. Having considered the Met Éireann Red Weather Warning, and the likely impacts of blizzard conditions, and FOR REASONS OF PUBLIC SAFETY IN BLIZZARD LIKE CONDITIONS, THE NECG IS ADVISING THAT PEOPLE SHOULD NOT VENTURE OUT OF DOORS WHILE THE RED LEVEL WARNING IS IN PLACE IN THEIR AREA. dlr asks for people to stay safe and warm and to please STAY AWAY from beaches, piers, promenades and cliff edges for the duration of the storm.
