Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Local Enterprise Office (LEO dlr) is delighted that two of the businesses it supports have been rewarded within their sector.

The Dalkey Food Company, run by Ivan Varian and supported by LEO dlr, has recently been nominated as a Fáilte Ireland Food Champion. The Company, which is renowned for its wonderful soups and breads, won the nomination for their pride and conviction in the promotion of Irish food.

Homespun Foods, run by Erica Sheehan, is another local food producer supported by LEO dlr. Erica has won both gold and silver awards in the recent “Free From” Food Awards for her unique Quinoa based crunch. The “Free From” Food Awards recognise and reward the efforts of food and drinks producers who have taken the step to make their products free from one or more of the recognised food allergens.

Congratulating Ivan and Erica on their recent successes, An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Cllr Cormac Devlin said,

“I’m delighted to recognise Ivan and Erica’s wonderful achievements within the food sector.  As a County we have excellent food producers and providers who are committed to supplying innovative, locally-sourced produce and who are really passionate about what they do”.

Dearbhla Lawson, dlr Director of Economic, Community and Cultural Development, said, “We are very proud to support new food producers like Erica and we’re delighted that people like Ivan are championing the wonderful food experience the County has to offer.”

LEO dlr supports start-up and growing businesses, operating across a range of sectors, with finance, grants, business advice, training and mentoring.
