Community Awards 2016

We are delighted to announce that Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s Community Awards 2016 which is now in its 20th year received 63 entries from Community Groups for this year’s competition, which have been judged across seven categories:

  • Community Services
  • Older Persons in the Community
  • Environmental Awareness in Action
  • Services for Children Under 10
  • Services for Young People
  • Community Facilities
  • Arts, Culture and Recreation

These awards afford the County Council an opportunity to acknowledge the valuable contribution that community and voluntary groups and individuals make within the County to their communities through a diverse range of services and activities.

Supporting community engagement, participation volunteerism and active citizenship is one of the Council’s key objectives, and these awards help to recognise and reward the valiant efforts that the community groups play in developing and improving their communities.

An Cathaoirleach Cllr Cormac Devlin commented that

‘ We are fortunate that we have so many talented and dedicated people across the County who give their time and energy to such a variety of causes which really helps to enhance the quality of life for our communities’. He also commended the groups on the range and quality and inclusiveness of the exhibits in County Hall’

The overall winner of the DLR Community Awards was a very deserving group namely Kilcross Estate Management Forum.
