Intro Text

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown is blessed to have so many young people who are passionate about our environment. A prime example is Flossie, a 10 year old environmental activist who organises regular clean-ups of local beaches. Late last year Flossie challenged herself to raise enough money to buy a Sea Bin (see video link) for Dún Laoghaire Harbour.

This mammoth challenge was completed in a few short months thanks to the generosity of dozens of people, including other young activists who organised a bake sale and raised €74.70 to help Flossie make her target.

When the Sea Bin Company heard about Flossie’s efforts they decided to send not one, but two bins. These will be installing and serviced by the Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company upon receipt.

With so many young people like young Flossie, who are prepared to roll up their sleeves and make a positive contribution to protecting our planet, we believe the future is very bright.

Well done Flossie!
