Intro Text

During August, you might hear our new radio commercial targeting fly tipping and illegal waste collectors.

Illegal dumping is a crime! It is unsightly and a major issue which impacts on our rural landscape. Illegal dumping causes harm to wildlife and damages waterways. We can all play a part in protecting our beautiful landscape. You can do this when giving your waste to a waste collection company or person, ask them to show you their waste collection permit. Waste collectors must display a valid waste collection permit on their vehicles, flyers and receipts. If your waste is illegally dumped you could be liable for a fine of up to €3,000 upon conviction in a District Court. Brought to you by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council."

Legitimate waste collectors will have a permit issued by the National Waste Permit Office.

You can visit https://www.nwcpo.ie/ for a list of legitimate waste collectors.
