Intro Text

Music Generation DLR is a new music education service for children and young people ages 0 to 18 in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. It is part of Music Generation – Ireland’s National Music Education Programme, initiated by Music Network, co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education and Skills and Local Music Education Partnerships.

Locally, Music Generation DLR is managed by DLR Music Education Partnership and funded by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board, TUSLA, Southside Partnership DLR, Royal Irish Academy of Music, Blackrock Education Centre, IADT, UCD and Crosscare.  DLR MEP is led by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

Planning for the Music Generation DLR set-up process will commence over the coming months, with programming expected to get underway later in 2018.

Once established, Music Generation DLR will develop a range of affordable and accessible performance music programmes for children and young people in their local area. This will include the coordination of music tuition services within the county, working in partnership with schools, community music groups and tuition centres in the formation of choirs, ensembles, access programmes, composition and song writing projects, and more, across a range of musical genres and styles.
