Intro Text

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is aware of reports regarding time delays this morning at the Cherrywood junction of the M50.

Road Infrastructural works have been on-going along the Wyattville Link Road for the past 10 months as part of the new road network required to serve the Cherrywood area. These works include the removal of the Cherrywood Roundabout and the replacement with a signalised traffic junction.

This is a challenging project as contractors must balance the infrastructual works with the need to keep traffic flowing through. As with all changeovers from roundabouts to signalised junctions there is a transition period, which can cause delays during peak times. However, the Council's Traffic Engineers will continue to work with the Contractor to address the concerns raised and optimise the traffic movements through the area.

In the immediate term, traffic light sequenceing and the redesignation of lane layouts are being optimised.  It is envisaged that this should significantly reduce traffic delays at the Cherrywood Junction of the M50.
