Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is pleased to announce the launch of an online Choice Based Letting (CBL) system that will allow housing applicants to express their interest in available Council properties.

The initial phase of CBL will operate on a pilot basis and will involve certain housing stock being made available for letting being advertised on our dedicated CBL website - cbl.dlrcoco.ie. People on the Council’s Social Housing Support List will be able to use the website to express their interest in available properties that are suitable for the size of their household and within their area(s) of preference. Where more than one person expresses an interest in a property, the property will be offered to the person highest on the housing list who has expressed an interest.

The first properties will be advertised on our CBL website on Wednesday, 8th March 2017. Properties will be advertised in this way every week so housing applicants are advised to check the website on a regular basis.

The system can be accessed through a range of devices including laptops, tablets and smartphones. Anyone who does not have access to the Internet is welcome to call in to any of our public libraries to use the public computers to access the website.

Speaking about the launch of the CBL system, An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Councillor Cormac Devlin said: “I have no doubt the introduction of Choice Based Letting will prove to be beneficial to everyone. It is a fair and practical way of allocating properties that will give people on the housing list a greater role in the process of selecting their home. It will help reduce the number of refusals on offers of accommodation and subsequently reduce the length of time it takes to allocate the properties.”

All housing applicants eligible for CBL have been written to in recent days and have been provided with their usernames and an initial password for the system. Anyone who has not received this letter but believes they should have received it can contact the Housing Allocations Section at housingallocations@dlrcoco.ie or 01 2054828.
