Intro Text

Today is World Ocean Day and the theme this year is combating plastic pollution.

In celebration of World Ocean Day, on Saturday 9th June 2018 at 2.30pm, Flossie our 11 year old beach clean activist will lead a march from the LexIcon, Dún Laoghaire towards the Royal Marine Hotel, down Marine Road and onto the East Pier. Flossie is calling for a 'Plastic Free Irish Sea' and we hope you'll join her to amplify that message.

Flossie is asking participants to wear BLUE and if possible bring banners and placards or at least join her in her chant for a 'Plastic Free Irish Sea'.

Flossie raised over €3000 to install two sea bins in Dún Laoghaire Harbour. We hope people will recognise her wonderful efforts by participating in this worthwhile event.

Flossie's march is one of dozens taking place around the world under the March for the Oceans banner and is organised in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

We are committed to supporting young people who wish to protect our planet and we hope you will also show your support by joining Flossie in calling for a 'Plastic Free Irish Sea', but by also reducing plastic usage.
