An Cathaoirleach, Councillor Denis O’Callaghan, has officially launched the Spring into Heritage programme for 2024. This year’s Spring into Heritage festival will run from March 25th until April 28th and it will include a variety of events including guided tours, talks, online 3D tours and more.

Free guided tours of major local landmarks include:

  • Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre
  • Cabinteely House & Marlay House
  • Seapoint Martello Tower
  • The Oratory
  • Fernhill Park & Gardens

Self guided tours include:

  • National Maritime Museum
  • James Joyce Tower

Spring into heritage 2024 will also host three talks in Marlay House. Join us on April 9th for a talk by Rob Goodbody on the Leadmines, a prominent landmark located between Shankill and Kilternan. On April 16th you are invited to learn about the burning of around 300 Big Houses in Ireland during the War of Independence and Civil War 1920-23, a talk delivered by Terence Dooley, Professor of History, Head of Department, and Director of the Centre for the Study of Historic Irish houses and Estates at Maynooth University. On April 23rd, local historian Peadar Curran will explore some of the often overlooked features of Marlay Park.

We also have the option of exploring the Oratory, Cabinteely House, and Marlay online through our exciting 3D tours on our website.

Full brochure of events is available on our website here.

All events are free but pre-booking is required for many events as spaces are limited on each tour.
