Intro Text

We are delighted to announce that we are providing funding for school cycle parking. Schools are required to apply and outline how they are promoting cycling among their students. All applications will be reviewed and the cycle parking will be supplied to all successful schools. We have notified all primary schools in our area.

In addition to school cycle parking, we are also rolling out cycle parking around the county following an allocation of funding by the National Transport Authority. We are also continuing to support cycle training in schools, with over 1200 pupils trained in 2017.

Cllr Shay Brennan, the dlr Cycle Champion and Chair of the Cycle Forum, said, ‘I welcome this initiative to help encourage more pupils to cycle to school. This, along with other initiatives such as the improvements to the cycle network, the roll out of cycle training and the introduction of a county-wide Stationless bike share scheme, have helped to increase the numbers of people cycling in the county.

We continue to promote cycling as a safe and healthy travel mode and we are currently developing a number of cycling infrastructure schemes along Stillorgan Road and Clonskeagh Road  A county-wide Cycle Map and route leaflets are available to help cyclists plan their routes when cycling in the county and can be found here
