In November 2017, the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, TD, announced the launch of the recast RAPID Programme, with an allocation of €2million in Capital funding for disadvantaged urban areas. The scheme will run to December 2017 and is focused on supporting projects that would improve the quality of life for residents in disadvantaged urban areas, providing tangible supports. The total funding allocated for the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown area is €64,500, an equal share of the total €2m Capital funding.
The Programme is being administered by the Local Community Development Committees (LCDC’s) under the remit of the Local Authorities (LA’s) on behalf of the Department. The LCDC’s will be responsible for targeting and allocating funding, as they are ideally placed to identify the applications which most suitably address the Programme’s target groups and issues, including complementarity with the Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP) in each LA administrative area.
Applications are invited for funding for capital projects that target the relevant groups or issues in disadvantaged urban areas and seek to enhance communities in disadvantaged urban areas. Applications should relate to strategic themes in the DLR Local Economic and Community Plan 2016-2021 in order to be eligible for consideration.
