The atmosphere was full of energy and positivity from the fun warm up, to the starter hooter set of by An Leas Chathaoirleach Cllr. Mary Fayne, to the finish area back in People’s Park where a hot cuppa awaited. Most importantly the rain held off and everyone left with a feeling motivated to start an active 2019.
Speaking after the event Shane McArdle, Co-ordinator of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership said “the importance of a healthy lifestyle is well proven that getting more exercise improves both physical and mental health. A big thank you has to go out to all the volunteers who helped on the day, the County Councils Parks Department and Sport Ireland. “
Trained walking leaders were also present on the day for a helping hand and to provide motivation where needed. This public event will now be followed up with a 5-week walking programme in Dun Laoghaire where adults can get a bit more active in a social setting.
