Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Partners with LIFT Ireland to foster Leadership in the Community
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and LIFT Ireland, a not-for-profit initiative aimed at increasing the level of positive leadership in Ireland, have today announced the launch of an innovative partnership aimed at fostering personal leadership and mindfulness capabilities to businesses in the area.
With approximately eleven hundred businesses in DLR, LIFT Ireland will allow business people and HR managers across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown to develop their personal leadership abilities and effectiveness. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has committed to rolling out training for 100 individuals across a series of five events, beginning in September and running until the end of the year.
LIFT Ireland, which stands for ‘Leading Ireland’s Future Together’, was founded in 2017 and enables people across Ireland, aged from 14 up, to develop their own personal leadership strengths. LIFT does this through its eight-part, group learning programme. It aims to have over 10% of the country’s population “Living LIFT” by 2028, and that over half a million Irish people will have experienced LIFT’s leadership groups and adopted personal leadership attributes in their everyday lives.
Owen Laverty, Head of Enterprise and Economics for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council said of the partnership;
“We are firmly committed to supporting the development of businesses in DLR, and the LIFT initiative has proven to be immensely beneficial to those who get involved, as it helps to build relationships and ensure strong, positive pathways for development and growth. We want to support the development of positive scalable cultures in our business community and we see the LIFT initiative as a very important part of this”
Since its launch in May 2018, over 400 facilitators have joined the initiative with almost 1,000 people undertaking the programme. Alongside Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, LIFT adopters have included community groups, schools, sports clubs, businesses and government organisations. LIFT Ireland partners include AIB, Dublin Airport Authority, RTE, Munster Rugby, Homecare Independent Living, the ESB, Digicom, Enterprise Ireland and CPL.
