Works to commence on Clonskeagh Road Cycle Scheme
Construction works are due to commence in early March on the upgrade of a cycle route on Clonskeagh Road near UCD. This scheme in on one of the key routes in the city linking Sandyford and the City Centre.The works to be carried out as part of the proposed scheme works include the following:
- Enhanced facilities for cyclists on the both sides of Clonskeagh Road from north of Annsbook junction to south of Nutgrove Park and Belfield Close junction including the provision of 2.0m wide cycle tracks / cycle lanes and enhanced transitions for cyclists through junctions,
- Reconfiguration of the junction of Clonskeagh Road and Wynnsward Drive at the entrance to UCD by removing the left turn slip lane into UCD and by providing an area to allow cyclist’s to turn right into UCD in advance of the pedestrian crossing near AIB.
- Provision of a new signalised pedestrian crossing on Clonskeagh Road south of the junction with Annsbrook.
- All associated utilities works including relocation of public lighting, traffic signals, trees, and third-party utilities.
A Traffic Management Plan will be in place during the works that will consider all road users with traffic disruption kept to a minimum as is reasonably possible. Updates will be provided throughout the works to inform the elected members, businesses, residents and the public regarding the scheme progress. It is expected the works will continue for about 6 months.
The project is being funded by the National Transport Authority.
