dlr libraries are once again this year participating in the much loved “Summer Stars” reading programme.

It runs in public libraries throughout the country during the summer. In dlr Libraries we want to encourage all children to begin to read or continue to read over the summer months.

All you have to do is sign up at your local library for the Summer Stars programme. You will be given a reading card. Each time you read a book you will get your reading card stamped, and there are great incentives all along the way including bags, swim hats, wrist bands, pencils, bookmarks, magnets and stickers to encourage all who partake. When you fill your card you get to enter our wonderful competition for great prizes and a chance to attend a lovely prize-giving ceremony in dlr LexIcon in September. We have some great events lined up for Summer Stars this year, from local launches to class visits and workshops

Summer Stars provides the whole family with an opportunity to explore the full range of children’s library services, including story time sessions, book clubs, children’s events, access to talking books and games, workshops, computers and internet access, and of course children’s books for all ages.
