Applications Open tomorrow for Cost Rental Apartments Shanganagh Castle Estate
Applications to open for 195 cost rental homes in Shanganagh Castle Estate, Shankill
- Application portal opens at 12 noon on Tuesday 10 December
- Lottery to be run in first week of January 2025
- Rents from €1,175 to €1,775
- Net income must be below €66,000
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and the Land Development Agency (LDA) have today announced that the application process for 195 cost rental homes will open 12 noon on Tuesday 10 December 2024 and will remain open for a week. Applicants are asked to closely study the eligibility criteria and ensure they fulfil the requirements. They are also advised to prepare the documentation they will require to secure a home if they are selected through the initial lottery process.
The 195 homes include:
- 19 studio apartments,
- 40-one beds,
- 107 two-beds and
- 29-three beds.
The monthly rent for a studio apartment is €1,175 and the rent for a one-bed is €1,250. The 2-bed apartments are being made available for €1,575 a month and the 3-beds for €1,775. Cost rental offers a long-term secure rental option at below market rates for peoples who do not qualify for social housing but who cannot access the private market without support. On average, the rents charged for cost rental apartments are at least 25% below market rates.Applicants for these cost rental homes must have a net household income of below €66,000. They must also be able to afford the advertised rent, which should not account for more than 35% of their monthly net income.

Cost rental offers a long-term secure rental option at below market rates for people who do not qualify for social housing but who cannot access the private market without support. These cost rental apartments, the largest Irish project certified to achieve the 'Passive House' low energy standard are designed to be very energy efficient and will have excellent indoor air quality and comfort levels”.
