dlr seeks three in a row in Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur Competition

Dún Laoghaire Rathdown’s Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE) National Finalist Martin O’Reilly, Output Sports, is seeking to make it three in a row for the County at the National Final in Google on 15th September 2019.  Dún Laoghaire Rathdown has had a fantastic record in the competition as both previous Overall National Winners were local entrepreneurs, Conor O’Loughlin of GloFox and Ciara Clancy of Beats Medical.

The competition is run by the network of 31 Local Enterprise Offices in local authorities across the country. Supported by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation and Enterprise Ireland it provides a €2million investment fund with targeted business development supports.

Martin’s business, Output Sports provides a sports technology sensor system that can streamline off field performance optimisation, testing speed and strength and offers unrivalled accuracy for gym-based exercise analysis.  The finalists for this year’s competition also include a recent BBC Dragons’ Den participant, an entrepreneur using artificial intelligence drones for river rescues, a serial entrepreneur bringing shopping from your phone to your door, a 19-year-old whose skills learned in transition year now sees her employ 23 people, an entrepreneur using plant based nutrition to combat MS and diabetes and a young woman who is revolutionising the methods by which horses are bred.

Over 1600 applications were received for this year’s competition with applicants being given access to enterprise events, including 400 attending Business Bootcamps across the Country.

Oisin Geoghegan, Chair of the Network of Local Enterprise Offices, said;

IBYE is a key competitive programme provided by Local Enterprise Offices.  It offers young entrepreneurs at different stages of their development a fantastic opportunity to avail of expert mentoring and pitch training as well as guidance and validation from experienced businesspersons and analysts.  It is the perfect start for these entrepreneurs and their journey has been supported all the way by their Local Enterprise Office.
