A Walk in Marlay: A Talk by Peadar Curran
Exploring some of the often overlooked or taken for granted features of Marlay Park. The talk traces the development of Marlay Park from a medieval grange to a walled demesne with a Regency Garden and latterly its conversion to a community amenity as a public park. It explores the many built heritage features, from the imposing ashlar granite entrance gates to the numerous bridges with their unusual keystone motifs. It tells the intriguing story of the now disappeared mausoleum from the La Touche period before looking at the more recent stone and metal sculpture installations.
