Join The LexIcon Studio Film Club for a four day pop-up film festival!

'LUX – The European Audience Film Award is organised by the European Parliament and the European Film Academy. This award highlights the European Parliament’s commitment to culture and education, by providing support to European cinema and promoting cultural diversity.

Following free screenings of LUX award nominees across the EU with audiences invited to vote online, the award winner will be announced in late April. The LexIcon is delighted to host screenings of the nominees of the LUX Audience award, as scheduled below.

The event is free, no booking required.

Mon 7 April 6.00pm
'Animal' (Greece, Cyprus, Austria: 116 mins)
On a package holiday Greek island resort, during an increasingly busy tourist season, musical entertainers led by Kailia, deal with mounting pressures of the job as nights build toward violence- but the show must go on.

Tues 8 April, 6.00
'Julie Keeps Quiet' (Belgium, Sweden: 100 mins)- Julie, a star tennis player at an elite academy, is torn between the game she loves and club players urging her to speak against her discredited coach.

Wed 9 April, 7.15pm
'Dahomey' (France, Senegal, Benin: 65 mins)- Plundered by French colonial troops in 1892, twenty-six royal treasures of the Kingdom of Dahomey are about to leave Paris to return to their country of origin, the present-day Republic of Benin. Debate rages among students about the country that was vs the place that is today.

Thurs 10 April, 6.00pm
'Flow' (Latvia, France, Belgium: 85 mins)- Cat finds refuge in a flooded dying world, on a boat populated by various species, who team up with them despite their differences, overcoming everything to adapt in a new world.
