DLR Communities Shine at All Ireland Pride of Place Awards
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council are thrilled to announce that two community groups from the area have been named winners at the annual IPB Pride of Place Awards, held in Monaghan over the weekend. This prestigious all Island competition celebrates the efforts of communities coming together to shape, change, and improve daily lives in their respective areas. The Ballinteer Active Retirement Association (BARA) was awarded the National Award for Age Friendly Communities, while Shankill Village received runner up in the Population over 5,000 category.
These awards serve as recognition of the hard work and dedication displayed by the members of these community groups, showcasing their passion for making a positive impact on their surroundings.
"We congratulate all of the local groups that participated in Pride of Place Awards 2024," said Frank Curran, Chief Executive, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. "These National awards recognise and acknowledge the work that volunteers and communities are doing all over the island of Ireland, and winning is a testament to the dedication and passion displayed by the members of the Ballinteer Active Retirement Association and all the Community groups involved with Shankill Village."
