Puppeteer: Gianlucca Di Matteo

Le Guarattelle di Pulcinella is a traditional Italian puppet show featuring 
Pulcinella, a close relative of Mr. Punch. The show shares many elements with 
its counterparts, infused with the warmth of the Mediterranean. Its roots are 
ancient, tackling profound themes in a fun and engaging way. The narrative 
is driven by a rhythm that captivates the audience from the very first scenes, 
making it suitable for all kinds of audiences.

Gianluca Di Matteo has been involved in puppetry and the broader field of 
figure theatre since 2000. Throughout his career, he has performed in 22 
countries. A master of the Neapolitan puppetry tradition, Gianluca is one of 
the few who continue to preserve and evolve 
this art form. He carves his puppets from 
wood and conducts educational workshops 
for primary school children. He also offers 
courses for actors and puppeteers.

Gianluca will include a workshop/
demonstration after the performance.
