In the first part of this workshop, Máiríde and Patricia will draw on poems by Eavan Boland which use the theme of memory and refer to the work each of them contributed to the anthology Tearing Stripes off Zebras. Participants will look at the stages in turning a recollection into a finished piece of prose or poetry. In the second part, participants will draw on a memory of their own to write a paragraph or poem, followed by a discussion and consideration of how they might develop and edit their work. The workshop is aimed at people interested in exploring the way writers use and change specific memories. Given the present interest in life-writing, we hope this will catch the imagination of participants!
