The Glenamuck District Roads Scheme (GDRS) is included in the County Development Plan 2016-2022 as a six year road objective, and is further detailed in the Kilternan Glenamuck Local Area Plan 2013.
Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) was submitted to An Bórd Pleanála for approval on 15th March 2019. Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) was published on 2nd April 2019. Both went out to public consultation - closing date for submissions was 16th May 2019. A total of 40 submissions were received and an oral hearing was held in the offices of An Bord Pleanála in September 2019. The CPO was approved by An Bord Pleanála in December 2019. Notice of the confirmation of the CPO was advertised in February 2020.
The detailed design stage of the Glenamuck District Road Scheme (GDRS) was completed in May 2022. The tender for the second and final stage of the Glenamuck District Road Scheme in November 2022 with a return date of the 22nd December. Contractor appointment is subject to dlr approval.
Work should commence in Q4 2023 on the Glenamuck District Distributor Road (running from De La Salle grounds Stepaside to Carrickmines roundabout) with completion in Q3 2024. Work will then commence on Glenamuck District Link Road to Kilternan. The road scheme is scheduled to take about 2 years.
Glenamuck Park
Part 8 planning approval was received on 14/06/2021 and the report is available to view in the related documents section on this page. The associated earthworks will be carried out as part of the road scheme. Subject to availability of funding and after the road is completed, the Parks Department of dlr will complete the detailed park design including landscaping and planting.
The scheme in general includes the following main provisions:
- Glenamuck District Distributor Road (GDDR) - Primary Link Road - single carriageway from tie-in at Enniskerry Road to the tie-in at the Glenamuck Road East / Golf Lane Roundabout
- Glenamuck Link Distributor Road (GLDR) - Primary Link Road - single carriageway from tie-in at Enniskerry Road to GDDR
- Provision of necessary SUDS attenuation ponds
