Public Consultation: East Coast Railway Infrastructure Protection Projects (ECRIPP)
Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail has announced the commencement of the first round of public consultation on the East Coast Railway Infrastructure Protection Projects (ECRIPP). This initiative aims to enhance coastal protection for the existing railway infrastructure at five key locations between Dublin and Wicklow that are vulnerable to the effects of climate change. The Coastal Cell Areas (CCAs) identified for the project are at high risk of coastal erosion, wave overtopping, and cliff instability.
The consultation seeks feedback on the Emerging Preferred Scheme for each of the CCAs, two of which CCAI (Merrion to Dún Laoghaire) and CCA2/3 Dalkey Tunnel to Shanganagh Wastewater Treatment Plant are in the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown Area.
Members of the community are encouraged to participate in the consultation to provide valuable input that will inform the project team in developing effective solutions to safeguard the railway line and preserve the infrastructure for future generations.
The consultation period is now open and will run until 4 December.
Information Session: Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire on Tuesday, November 19 from 3-7pm
