Seaside Discovery Free Bus Tours

Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, in partnership with the Dún Laoghaire Business Association, is excited to announce the launch of the Seaside Discovery Free Bus Tours. This new initiative will operate from Dún Laoghaire Harbour to Sandycove every 45 minutes from 9.30-4.30pm daily over the Summer.

"We are thrilled to offer this unique opportunity for tourists and locals to explore the beauty of our coastline. Whether you're seeking relaxation, adventure, or culture, the Seaside Discovery Free Bus Tours offer something for everyone," said Denis O’Callaghan, Cathaoirleach, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

Operating over the Summer months, this free sight-seeing bus service offers a unique opportunity to explore the stunning coastal beauty from Dún Laoghaire to Sandycove. Running seven days a week, the hop-on, hop-off service allows both tourists and locals to discover the charm of our coastline at their own pace.

With expert guided commentary, passengers can enjoy a 45-minute round-trip starting from Dún Laoghaire Harbour, passing through Sandycove and highlighting iconic landmarks such as the Royal Marine Hotel, People’s Park, Dún Laoghaire Baths, and the James Joyce Martello Tower," said Frank Curran, Chief Executive, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.

This service is a 12-week pilot program specifically for cruise ship passengers, but is also available for tourists and locals. Currently it is not wheelchair accessible, but we will be evaluating the demand and use of the service to incorporate into any future plans for this service.

Marty O’Byrne, Dún Laoghaire Business Association said, “We are delighted to partner with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council on this pilot project to showcase all that our coast has to offer to both cruise ship passengers, tourists and locals”.

This service has now started and will run over the next 12 weeks (May-August). From Dún Laoghaire Harbour - 09.30, 10.15, 11, 11.45, 1.30, 2.15, 3, 3.45, 4.30.
