Allotments
Allotments are characterised by a concentration in one place of several land parcels that are assigned to and cultivated by individuals or families.
The Council operates allotments at two locations in the County.
- At Goatstown, the Parks Service manage allotments which are provided on lands reserved for the construction of the Eastern bypass road. There are 136 allotments ranging in size between 40 and 200 square meters. The individual gardeners are organised in an allotment association which represents the needs of the plot holders.
- At Shankill, there are 95 allotments located on the grounds of Quinn's Road.
Individual plot holders at both locations have a permit agreement with the Council which ensures compliance with the conditions of use.
Residents of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown are eligible to apply for either of these allotments and plots are allocated on a first come, first served basis with a limit of one plot per person. Neglected or untended plots are reallocated to those on the waiting list. To be included on the waiting list you must complete an application form and send to Parks, Municipal Services Department, Level 3, County Hall, Dún Laoghaire or by return on e-mail to parks@dlrcoco.ie.
We are not accepting applications currently, as there is an extensive waiting list for both locations, Goatstown and Shankill (September 2024)
