Any horse found wandering or being kept on public land will be removed by the Council.
Should a horse be found wandering or kept on public land three times in 12 months the Council is not obliged to return the horse to its owner.
All horses must have a licence and a passport and must be microchipped. A horse licence costs €30.00 and can be obtained from the Council. A horse passport costs €35. A list of approved bodies for issuing passports can be obtained from the Council.
Anyone who owns or has charge of a premises, including land, on which there are horses, regardless of whether he or she owns the horses or the premises or the land must register the premises, including land, with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
All horses must be kept on land that has been registered with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

Dun Laoghaire – Rathdown County Council give out a modest amount of grant money each year to Animal Welfare Charities.
