Phased works to create a new public park on Hudson Road, Glasthule, began in 2018. These first phase of works was completed in 2018 and included the design and development of a new plinth and boundary railings, playground and natural play areas, wildflower meadow, a new perimeter path, the regrading and improved drainage of the field, native hedge boundary planting and the planting of over 70 specimen and native trees. In collaboration with local residents and school children, a new apple orchard was planted which forms part of the community gardens within the park.
Phase 2 works were completed in 2020 and included the construction of a sensory garden in Hudson Road Park. It includes extensive seating and picnic areas, herbaceous and sensory planting, a competition size boules court and a community edible garden. Additional works included improved drainage, tree and meadow planting.
Phase 3 of the works will include a community sports pavilion and generous storage for sports related equipment. These works are scheduled to commence in Q3 2024 for completion by Q1 2025
