Take a trip on the Seaside Discovery from Dún Laoghaire Harbour to Sandycove. This new free bus tour starts at Dún Laoghaire Harbour and operates daily between 9:30am - 5:00pm throughout the summer months. You can track the bus here to see its current location (only operational during daytime).

Starting from the historic Dún Laoghaire Harbour, the 45-minute round-trip will take you on a scenic route to Sandycove, stopping at the Royal Marine Hotel, People’s Park, Dún Laoghaire Baths and the James Joyce Tower.  

There are 8 hop-on/hop-off stops in total along the route which are:

  1. Dún Laoghaire Harbour (Harbour Road - beside the Ferry Terminal Building)
  2. Royal Marine Hotel, dlr LexIcon Library and National Maritime Museum
  3. George’s Street (Shopping Centre)
  4. Dún Laoghaire Baths/People’s Park
  5. James Joyce Tower, Sandycove
  6. Opposite Caviston’s Glasthule
  7. Opposite Dún Laoghaire Shopping Centre
  1. McKenna’s (St Michael’s Hospital)

This service is a 12-week pilot program specifically for cruise ship passengers, but is also available for tourists and locals. Currently it is not wheelchair accessible, but we will be evaluating the demand and use of the service to incorporate into any future plans for this service.
