Book Launch: ‘Digging up the Raj in the Attic’ by Shabnam Vasisht
Shabnam Vasisht is a visual artist and author and having inherited a keen interest in the past from her historian mother, her most recent books are on local history. Over her four decades in Ireland, Shabnam has noticed that people often mentioned their ancestors who worked in India during British rule. After four years of deep and extensive research, Shabnam has produced 'Digging up the Raj in the Attic' – the second in the series, after 'Digging up the Raj in Deansgrange Cemetery'. This book narrates the remarkable achievements of a wide range of Irish people in British India – moviemakers, tea-planters, civil servants, soldiers and others.
