Hailing from Monaghan, Francis McCarron tells a wide range of stories ranging from tales of Irish heroes and villains, through fairies and folklore, to stories about local characters who Francis knew and met. He has stories about Irish saints at home and abroad, tales of smuggling and other goings on along the border and self-composed tales full of wit and wisdom. He also has a selection of riddles and rhymes to appeal to all.

Francis is the current Storyteller in Residence for Monaghan County Council. He also curates a monthly storytelling group, Drumlin Yarnspinners, in Monaghan Town. Francis has been involved in storytelling events in his native Co Monaghan for over three decades and has been a featured Storyteller at festivals and events across Ireland, north and south. He has shared his tales with older people, people with special needs and with children in National Schools throughout the country.
