On 12th June 2003, the Council introducted bye-laws for the regulation and control of the consumption of alcohol in public places. The Council works in conjunction with An Garda Síochána in implementing these bye-laws.
Anyone found to be in contravention of the bye-laws will be issued with an "on-the-spot" fine. If a fine remains unpaid, the Council may take legal action, which could result in a court prosecution.
