About Healthy Ireland
Healthy Ireland is a government led initiative aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of everyone living in Ireland. The Healthy Ireland fund is provided to LCDC’s and Children and Young People’s Services Committees (CYPSC) across Ireland to local organisations to deliver actions which will improve health and wellbeing in line with the National Framework ‘Healthy Ireland - A Framework for Improved Health and Wellbeing 2013 – 2025’. Healthy DLR 2019-2022 Launch - May 2019
The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Local Community Development Committee (DLR LCDC) and the DLR CYPSC were delighted to launch the “Healthy Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Plan 2019-2022” on 9th May 2019 in Marlay Park.
The plan was launched in conjunction with the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership’s “Daily Mile” event which saw over 1,300 children from schools across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown come to Marlay Park to run or jog, at their own pace, with their classmates, making them fitter, healthier, and more able to concentrate in the classroom.
The Healthy Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Plan 2019-2022 was resourced through the Department of Health ‘Healthy Ireland” funding received by the DLR LCDC and CYPSC. The development of this plan was led by the Healthy Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Steering Committee which included cross-sectoral representation from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, the Health Service Executive, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown CYPSC, Southside Partnership DLR, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership, University College Dublin and TUSLA Child & Family Agency.
The plan aims to support the county of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown in becoming a healthier county by working to achieve its vision “where the Community of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown is supported to access opportunities to achieve good physical health and positive mental health and wellbeing”. Following a consultation process, the Healthy Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Plan 2019-2022 identifies eight priorities to support the health and wellbeing of the County. These priorities will be achieved through collaborative working with appropriate partners in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. These eight priorities are:
- Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Healthy County
- Physical Health and Activity
- Mental Health and Wellbeing
- Children and Young People
- Families
- Diversity
- Disability
- Age Friendly
Supported Projects in DLR
Under the current Healthy Ireland Fund 2019-2021 - Round 3, DLR LCDC has six Healthy Ireland Fund Actions. DLR CYPSC (Children & Young Persons Services Committee) also receives funding under the Healthy Ireland Fund.
Keep Well Campaign
The Keep Well campaign is a call to action to everyone across our society. It is an invitation to individuals, communities, voluntary groups, sporting organisations, those involved in creativity and the arts, local heritage and history, businesses, as well as local and national government to find ways to support everyone to discover new activities and routines that will do us good.
The campaign is aimed at showing people of all ages how we can mind our own physical and mental health and wellbeing by adding healthy and helpful habits to our daily and weekly routines. It provides guidelines, information, and tips on things that will help us keep well through the coming months.
The #KeepWell campaign is focused on five main themes, with more details on national and local initiatives available HERE
