Dún Laoghaire

Dún Laoghaire, is a suburban coastal town, part of the greater Dublin area and located about 12km from Dublin city centre. Home to Dún Laoghaire harbour and the county council buildings, it is the administrative centre of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown county. Dún Laoghaire is a modern, bustling village in south Dublin. It is a perfect location for a coastal urban setting with panoramic sea views, shops, bars, parks, and cafes. Dún Laoghaire, formerly Dunleary, was named Kingston in 1821 when King George IV visited. Ireland's first railway, opened in 1834, ran from Dublin to Kingston and led to the development of the town as a Victorian seaside resort. In 1921, the town was given it's current name, the original Irish form of Dunleary. The town features a wide range of buildings, the beautiful People's Park, the seafront area with the two piers and the harbour.
