Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Fáilte Ireland are thrilled to announce a dazzling fireworks display at Dún Laoghaire Harbour as part of the New Year’s Festival Dublin programme. The event, subject to licence, promises to be a night of family fun and excitement. Taking place on New Year's Eve at 8pm, the skies above Dublin will come alive with a synchronized fireworks show set to music. Spectators can enjoy the display from Sandycove to Dún Laoghaire Town, making it a perfect event for all ages. As a key event in Fáilte Ireland’s Winter in Dublin programme, the New Year’s Festival plays a vital role in attracting visitors and stimulating the local economy.

Councillor Jim O’Leary, Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, said:

“Join us this New Year's Eve for a night of fun, excitement, and breathtaking fireworks. We are proud to partner with Fáilte Ireland to offer this free event for everyone to enjoy. Don't miss out on this unforgettable celebration. The fireworks will light up the sky above Dún Laoghaire Harbour starting at 8pm on New Year's Eve, providing a magical backdrop to celebrate the arrival of 2025.”

Orla Carroll, Director of Product Development at Fáilte Ireland highlighted:

“Fáilte Ireland is pleased to announce the exciting programme of events for New Year’s Festival Dublin. The 2024 line-up showcases the very best of Ireland’s culture, live music, and entertainment for the entire family. This year’s celebrations will span the county, with spectacular fireworks displays taking place at Dún Laoghaire Harbour and Howth Harbour.

As a flagship event in Fáilte Ireland’s Winter in Dublin programme, the festival plays a crucial role in attracting both international and domestic visitors during the shoulder season. It also serves as a significant economic driver for local communities and businesses across the Dublin region. We look forward to collaborating with the Office of Public Works, Fingal County Council and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council to deliver this fantastic three-day festival in December.”

Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media Catherine Martin TD said:

“I’m pleased to see that Fáilte Ireland’s New Year’s Festival Dublin celebrations are expanding beyond the city centre with a fantastic fireworks display at Dún Laoghaire Harbour. Festivals and events play a vital role in Ireland's tourism sector, supporting local businesses and communities throughout the year. The NYF Dublin Fireworks Spectacular at Dún Laoghaire Harbour will be delivered in partnership between Fáilte Ireland and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, and I am looking forward to this event, which will be a fantastic celebration in our community and is part of a wide-ranging programme that will attract domestic and international visitors to celebrate New Year's in Dublin."
