Ireland Reads

Ireland Reads is a campaign to get the whole country reading this month in the lead up to a national day of reading on Saturday 24 February. Irish libraries have teamed up with publishers, booksellers, authors and others for the campaign which aims to celebrate reading and all the benefits it can have for well-being and enjoyment.

This year we are asking everyone to Get Lost - in a good book as well as in your local library. Make a date to visit your nearest dlr Library on Ireland Reads Day! As well as events for all ages, Library staff will be on hand to showcase and highlight the wide range of services and resources on offer in dlr Libraries.

Events on the day itself include bookmark-making workshops in Cabinteely and Stillorgan Libraries, find out more about our Book Clubs, learn about our Acorn tablets, Reader pens and home energy saving kits for lending, enjoy a Storytime for families in Deansgrange Library, a demo of our VR headsets in the LexIcon, get staff reading recommendations, and much, much more!

In dlr LexIcon, you can enjoy events for all the family; Prose and Pose Yoga with Peter and Paul Donnelly, Paul Howard will be telling us about Aldrin Adams and his amazing stinky superpower, authors Elaine Feeney and Paul Murray will be in conversation with Rick O'Shea, writer Miriam Mulcahy will be talking to nature experts Maureen McCoy and Vincent Hyland. We'll have a sketching workshop with Gwen Wilkinson and even a treasure hunt around Dún Laoghaire!
