An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Cllr Jim O’Leary and Frank Curran, Chief Executive, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council hopped on their bikes to officially announce Bike Week 2025! 

This exciting week-long event will take place from Saturday, May 10th to Sunday, May 18th, with a range of activities and events taking place across the County to celebrate and promote the benefits of cycling.

Councillor Jim O’Leary, Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown said: 

“This exciting week-long event aims to encourage cyclists of all ages and abilities to experience some of the many benefits of cycling. There are a range of fun inclusive events taking place throughout the County this year, and I would encourage people to join in during the week.   

“We have events catering for all levels, from the complete beginner to the seasoned cyclist, with events designed to enable people young and old to experience some of the many benefits of cycling, with all events free to attend.”

Cyclists of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in the many exciting events on offer, including learn-to-cycle workshops, family friendly cycles, cycle parades, cycling heritage tours, bike safety checks, bike accessory giveaways, a family cycling treasure hunt and more. 

Frank Curran, Chief Executive, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council commented: 

“Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council continues to support people to cycle in the County by encouraging people of all ages and abilities to consider sustainable transport modes. These sustainable modes can deliver environmental, health, and economic benefits to both the individual and the community. Bike Week is a great opportunity to experience these benefits first hand and celebrate all things cycling.

“We are delighted to support Bike Week 2025, and hope that people take the opportunity to enjoy some of the wonderful Bike Week events taking place throughout dlr from May 10 until May 18.”

Bike Week is aimed at people of all ages, and abilities with events taking place across the County to include:

  • Introduction to Mountain Biking Sessions 
  • Bike Maintenance Workshops / Bike Safety Checks
  • Cycling Heritage Tour
  • Bike Accessory Giveaways 
  • National Bike to Work day 
  • Accessible Fleet Showcase
  • Pedal Party Parade
  • Wheel, Walk & Cycle Celebration
  • Family Treasure Hunt Cycle
