Irish Rail are undertaking works on Killiney Embankment Stabilisation

General News
Killiney Embankment Stabilisation Works 1

Traffic and pedestrian management will be in place from today 18/09/24 and finishing on 06/12/24 as Irish Rail are undertaking works on Killiney Embankment Stabilisation. The project will stabilise the already slipped embankment.

The proposed repair/maintenance works involve stabilisation of the existing embankment parallel to and supporting the Rosslare to Dublin Railway Line and comprise vital repair/maintenance/improvement to infrastructure supporting the Rosslare to Dublin Railway Line.

The Proposed Works comprise soil nailing with steel reinforced geomat surface netting fixed to the soil nailing solution across the face of the embankment at Killiney Beach. The geomat surface netting has been specified to physically protect the vulnerable soil surface and reduce the impacts of erosion.

In order to carry out these works, vegetation will be cut back at the surface of the embankment prior to installation of the nails and netting. The proposed geomat surface netting will be green in colour and will blend in with the vegetation as it re-establishes upon completion of the works.

All of the works proposed will stabilise the embankment and prevent further slippage and damage. The proposed repair/maintenance works will be entirely consistent with the character of the existing embankment and adjoining railway infrastructure.
