Status Yellow Snow/Ice Weather Warning Issued for Dublin
A Status Yellow Weather Warning for Leinster/Dublin has been issued by Met Eireann, effective from 5pm Saturday 4 January until 5pm Sunday 5 January.
This warning predicts falls of sleet and snow, particularly in rural areas in the south and elevated parts of the County.
- The Status Yellow Weather Warning specifically applies to Dún Laoghaire Rathdown.
- In response to the warning, our gritting programme will be increased over the next seven days.
- Our salt barn and salt boxes around the County are fully stocked, with our team closely monitoring the Vaisala forecast to schedule gritting accordingly. You can view our interactive gritting map here.
- Special attention will be given to hot spots in advance of the weekend, with outdoor crews prepared for potential callouts.
- Additionally, snow ploughs will be fitted to gritters tomorrow to assist in keeping roads safe.
- Our Water services and Transportation departments are on alert to monitor and respond to water levels and spot flooding throughout the weekend.
We advise the public to avoid unnecessary travel as hazardous conditions are expected, resulting in poor visibility and travel disruption. Footpaths may be slippery, and black ice poses a risk.
