An Cathaoirleach Lettie McCarthy, Interim Chief Executive Tom McHugh, Director of Services Anne Devine and Sarah McCullough, Project Manager – Landscape were on hand with Niall McElwaine from Clonmel Enterprises on Wednesday 22nd September to mark the launch of the construction of Tully Park Phase 2 within the Cherrywood Strategic Development Zone (SDZ). Tully Park Phase 2 is one of the projects that has received funding under the Government’s Urban Regeneration and Development Fund (URDF) under Project Ireland 2040.

Tully Park when complete will be a high quality and distinctive flagship Park developed to respect the character and setting of Tully Church, a protected structure. The Park is located centrally in the County’s new emerging town of Cherrywood. The Park will support the emerging communities of Cherrywood to enable residents, workers and visitors to enjoy a high quality, inclusive environment with good leisure and recreation amenities and connections. It will also form part of the Council’s expanding Greenway connections.

Phase 2 of the Park is part-funded under the URDF which aims to deliver more compact and sustainable development, and the works are being carried out on behalf of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council by Clonmel Enterprises Ltd. It is envisaged that works will be completed in early 2022.

Speaking at the launch, An Cathaoirleach commented:

I am delighted to be here at Tully Park, which upon completion will be a new flagship park for the new communities of Cherrywood in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. It will be a great amenity for all the residents of Cherrywood and the wider areas to walk and cycle to and enjoy with their families over the coming years in a unique and historical setting.
