Bathing Advisory Notice - Seapoint
Due to the status Yellow rainfall warning issued by Met Éireann today, valid from 6:00am on Thursday 27/08/2020 until 6:00am on Friday 28/08/2020, the Prior Warning Notice currently in place at Seapoint Beach is being replaced with a temporary bathing Advisory Warning notice. Swimming is advised against until 9:00pm on Wednesday 02nd September 2020 at this designated bathing area.
This is due to the possibility of an increase in the levels of bacteria found in the bathing water as a result of overflows from the Irish Water wastewater network. It is likely that these overflows will have an effect on the quality of bathing water during the 4-5 days after the event.
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council bathing water team will be liaising with Irish Water to determine the effects of the rainfall event and will carry out a revised risk assessment of potential risks on Friday. Updates will be issued here and on dlr social media outlets and information will be posted at each of the designated bathing areas. Additional testing of bathing waters will be carried out and results will be made available on www.beaches.ie.
It is expected that these results would be available on Wednesday 02nd September.
