Cathaoirleach's Awards 2022
For the first time in three years, and with the ending of COVID-19 restrictions, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Cathaoirleach Awards were held on the 10th of May in the Assembly Room at County Hall, Dún Laoghaire. The hall was full with family and friends of the awardees.
At the event, 4 local people were honoured by An Cathaoirleach, Lettie McCarthy, for their achievements in sport and social impact, and their significant contribution to their local community.
In Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County, we are fortunate to have a lot of very talented people in our County. The people honoured at this event have all reached high levels of success in their chosen sport and area of volunteering, inspiring the next generation to also participate and perform to their best.
The people honoured were:
- Niomi Hayes, a 14 year old dancer from Dawson McDonnell School of Irish Dance, for her dancing achievements
- Tiegan Byrne, a 22 year old dancer from Dawson McDonnell School of Irish Dance, for her dancing achievements
- Jack Marley,a boxer from Monkstown Boxing Club, for his boxing achievements
- Stephen Wynne, former Operations Manager for the Dún Laoghaire RNLI, for his many years of service
The combination of individuals presented with awards this year are an excellent example of the talent and dedication that we have in a local community and we are proud to have such a selection of sports people and volunteers based within our County. We wish them every success in the future.
