DLR launches energy-efficient homes for social housing residents in Killiney
Today, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, officially opened 49 new homes at Columba Park, Watson Road, Killiney. The new homes consist of a mix of houses, apartments, duplexes and accessible units now all allocated to persons on dlr’s social housing list. Built to high environmental standards, the homes provide comfortable accommodation with low running costs, achieving an energy performance rating of A2 BER.
Councillor Denis O’Callaghan said at the launch:
"I welcome the delivery of these new homes at Columba Park, which are conveniently located near amenities, public transport routes, and local commercial centres. This is another positive step in providing accommodation for people on our social housing lists".
The A-rated homes, which include five 4-bedroom, four 3-bedroom houses, as well as four 1-bedroom and 20 2-bedroom apartments, eight 1-bedroom accessible units & eight 2-bedroom duplex units have been funded through the Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage.
Mr. Frank Curran, Chief Executive Officer of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, also commented on the initiative, saying:
"We are proud to be associated with this housing project, which involves the delivery of social housing through Part V of the Planning and Development Act. We are committed to working with developers to ensure the provision of quality homes to meet the social and affordable housing needs in our County".
