Creating with Communities plan launched by Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (L-R Frank Curran, Chief Executive DLR; Therese Langan, Director of Service DLR; An Cathaoirleach, Cllr Jim O Leary and Street Art Performer Eimear Phelan at the Gathering Grounds, Kilternan).

It has been a busy start to the year with the opening of several new services, including the new Ballyogan Library, the Mounttown Boxing Club building, and the restored Blackrock Park Historic Kiosk. These new facilities will benefit the community for years to come.

Looking ahead to 2025, we have several projects in the pipeline, including play space refurbishments at various parks, the development of a multi-sport campus at St. Thomas Fields, and the opening of a new pop-up shop in Dundrum Village to support local entrepreneurs.

The upcoming cruise season in Dún Laoghaire is set to bring a significant economic boost to the area, with over 80 cruise ships, with 128,000 passengers & 51,000 crew scheduled to call to the historic Harbour throughout the year. Additionally, the new Corporate Plan was adopted by elected members and sets out our vision and goals for the next five years.

In Planning, we have been working on the Draft Kiltiernan – Glenamuck Local Area Plan and the draft Old Connaght Local Area Plan, ensuring community engagement and input in the process. We are also pleased to announce that we have been allocated €21.6 million from the NTA to support the rollout of cycling and walking infrastructure, and we have received recognition for our energy and placemaking initiatives at recent awards ceremonies for St Laurence’s Stillorgan and Shanganagh Castle Estate.

As we look ahead to the rest of the year, we have a variety of events planned, including Spring into Heritage, the Eggscapade at Blackrock Park, and the return of Coastival this Summer. This year also marks a special milestone for Marlay Park as we celebrate 50 years since its transformation into a beloved public park. We encourage you and your family to enjoy our parks and natural spaces this Spring and beyond. On behalf of the Leadership Team, staff, and Elected Members, we look forward to continuing to serve our community and provide exceptional services and events for all to enjoy.
