Get ready to test your brainpower at Puzzles in the People's Park Dún Laoghaire!

As part of the nationwide celebrations for Maths Week 2024, 'Puzzles in the Park' brings a unique and engaging event to communities across Ireland and will take place during October. Cllr. Jim O’Leary, Cathaoirleach, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council opened the maths trail in the People’s Park, Dun Laoghaire, marking Maths Week Ireland. The trail has puzzles and conundrums for everyone to enjoy and will be in place until the end of October.

Welcoming the all-island STEM promotion initiative, Cllr. Jim O’Leary said,

“Maths and numbers are all around us in every aspect of our lives. Maths Week creates a lot of fun across the island with over 500,000 students and members of the public celebrating the importance of maths. I strongly commend Research Ireland and the Department of Education for bringing this festival of maths to locations all over Ireland. I hope people will enjoy the puzzles in the park.

"I found maths very useful throughout my career as a financial risk manager working in the banking and finance sector. Maths creates many positive career opportunities for our young people. It’s an essential life skill, whether it’s simply figuring something out on a day-to-day basis or contributing to significant developments for our country.”
