Glenamuck District Roads Scheme - Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR)

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Lodges Planning Application for Glenamuck District Roads Scheme

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has today (Friday 15^th March 2019) submitted a planning application under section 51(2) of the Roads Act 1993 (as amended by section 9(1)(e)(i) of the Roads Act 2007) for the Glenamuck District Roads Scheme (GDRS) with an associated Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) to An Bord Pleanála.

The scheme consists of:

• The Glenamuck District Distributor Road, approximately 890 metres of four lane dual carriageway and 660 metres of two lane single carriageway road which will connect the existing R117 Enniskerry Road with the Glenamuck Road / Golf Lane Roundabout, and
• The Glenamuck Link Distributor Road - approximately 1800 m of two lane single  carriageway  road,  which  will connect the  new Glenamuck District Distributor road with the existing Glenamuck Road, Ballycorus Road, Barnaslingan Lane and Enniskerry Road, and will provide an alternative  to  the Enniskerry Road for north - south  travel through the village of Kilternan.
• The  proposed new distributor roads, with associated traffic management measures and site works (including attenution ponds), would join the existing road network with new junction(s)  to  be  formed  with  the  R117  (Enniskerry  Road),  the  Glenamuck  Road, the  R116  (Ballycorus  Road),  and Barnaslignan  Lane. 
   

The planning application comprises an Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) which assesses the anticipated environmental impact of the project. A Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) notice for the acquisition of the privately-owned lands to allow the council to develop the GDRS will be published in approximately two weeks’ time.

A copy of the EIAR and other documentation will be available for inspection at the following locations during the hours listed (with the exception of public holidays) from the 15th March 2019 to the 16^th May 2019:

A copy of EIAR (or part(s) thereof) may be purchased from the Council Offices in Dún Laoghaire on payment of the following fee(s) from the 15th March 2019 to the 16^th May 2019.

in relation to:

• The likely effects on the environment of the proposed road development; and
• The implications of the proposed road development for proper planning and sustainable development in the area in which it is proposed to situate the proposed road development

so as to reach An Bord Pleanála before 5.30pm on 16th of May 2019. 
 

The Glenamuck District Roads Scheme is classed as “strategic infrastructure development” under the terms of the Planning and Development Acts 2000 to 2018. A fee of €50 must be paid in respect of any observations/submissions made to An Bord Pleanála in respect of any local authority strategic infrastructure development application.

This fee does not apply to certain prescribed bodies or to property owners and others with a legal interest in land who are objecting to compulsory acquisition of land in which they have such an interest in a compulsory acquisition case.
