Event Description

Cruinniú na nÓg dlr – Free Silent Disco with Atomic Djs

Join us in Myrtle Square in the heart of Dún Laoghaire for a free and inclusive silent disco for young people aged 14 – 18 on the evening of Cruinniú na nÓg.

The night will be hosted by young DJs, kbob (17), Gus Fingleton (16) and E the Artist (22) from Atomic. Atomic is an innovative programme which teaches girls and marginalised children how to DJ and gives young people access to broadcasting on Dublin Digital Radio (ddr).

Expect saucy cuts from genres including dancy rap, jersey club, reggaeton, r'n'b, amapiano, tech house and techno. Plus, there will be a special set from E the Artist, about how the African American community uses sampling to reimagine its own musical foundations to create new horizons: he'll be mixing funk and soul from the 70s and 80s with contemporary songs by Flying Lotus, J Dilla and Kaytranada which sample the originals.

So, get your dancing shoes on, bring your friends and dance to your own beat in a public space that welcomes young people. Headphones supplied so just bring yourself!

Darnijoh Sanni (22) is a Nigerian-Irish multidisciplinary creator based in Dublin. He makes music that can be defined as 'Sillywave' or for the more well-versed 'Rapscallion-Jazz', often combining elements from whatever stupid soundcloud subgenres he's hyperfixated on at the time.
