Crosscurrents - An exhibition of new collaborative artworks by artists from ArtNetdlr
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is delighted to present Crosscurrents, an exhibition of new multimedia art works by artists from ArtNetdlr. The exhibition is funded by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, curated by Claire Halpin and will take place between 7 September – 30 October 2024.
Artists from ArtNetdlr were invited to express their interest in working collaboratively with another artist or artists from a different discipline. They developed collaborative proposals responding to the theme of Crosscurrents. From these proposals, 39 artworks were selected for this exhibition.
An Cathaoirleach, Councillor Jim O’Leary said:
“We are privileged to have Artnetdlr in the County. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the wide variety of work being created by their members and I am thrilled to welcome them here to exhibit in the LexIcon, DLR’s beautiful Municipal Gallery for the first time.”
The selected artists worked together for almost a year developing artworks, responding to and reflecting on the theme of Crosscurrents. For many of the artists this was their first time to work with another discipline and this collaboration opened up a new space for varied responses from artists.
The concept of crosscurrents lends itself to exploration across a wide and diverse range of artistic disciplines, form and media. Painting, print, sculpture, drawing, poetry, spoken word, video and multimedia are all included in the exhibition.
Chief Executive of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Frank Curran said:
“Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is fortunate to have a wealth of artistic talent in the county. We are delighted to host and support this inspiring exhibition by artists from ArtNetdlr who have worked collaboratively to create new and diverse artworks.”
